Unique Opportunity:

Nefesh is excited to offer the role of General Manager. Reporting to the Rabbi and Rebbitzen, the successful candidate will be integral to helping us achieve our vision: to create a welcoming home for Jewish connection in the heart of Bondi.

This role is the backbone of the organisation, and will be responsible for managing all day-to-day and operational aspects of Nefesh. This includes logistics and back of house administration, as well as staff and volunteers. Where this role differs from a typical operational role is that you won’t only be managing back of house activities, you will be a welcoming face and key point of contact for all stakeholders, championing our core values and mission in the community.

Role Snapshot:

-  Responsible for all aspects of the centre’s operations, including management of all staff, volunteers, systems, processes, policies and procedures.  

- Establishment and ongoing management of the Nefesh event and program calendar, including Jewish holidays, volunteer sessions, community events, milestone events, etc. 

 - Setting up, booking and running Jewish event packages (Weddings, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, Kiddush, Venue Hire, Member engagement)

- Managing payments including payroll, issuing quotations, confirming payments for paid events, membership dues, donations etc.

- Procurement of all Centre, kitchen, office supplies and services etc. within a limited budget 

- Coordination of all contractors including building maintenance, event managers, chefs, mashgichim 

- Streamlining, documenting and automating all systems and procedures where possible to drive maximum efficiencies. 

- Assisting with management of website, social media pages, community database and software systems (Salesforce, Google Sheets, Canva, Paypal)

Core Hours:

Monday-Thursday, 9am-5pm. Fridays/Erev Yom Tov, 9am-3pm.  While it is expected that most hours will be spent on the premises, there is room for flexibility when required. 

About you:

Our chosen candidate will likely have 10+ years proven leadership experience in operations or project management roles. Highly organised, resourceful, reliable, process driven and tech savvy, you will have the passion to jump start and drive projects and systems across multiple areas. You will also have strong interpersonal and communication skills in managing and collaborating with people.
